Posted by Randy Bowser on Thursday, February 10, 2022, In : Progreso Yucatan Mexico Fishing Report
Howdy fishing family! Wow, seriously, after a record warmest month in December we are now seeing a record cold in the month of January! Our last boated tarpon were in December and yes folks, by women! Many hook ups after that but since January 2, we have had super cold fronts move over us and have just simply shut down the snook and tarpon.

I see my daily Facebook pop ups from last year and the years before and lots of tarpon and snook caught...But because of our colder temps that have chille...

June 2018 Progreso Mexico Fishing Report

Posted by Travel Merida on Saturday, June 30, 2018, In : Chelem/Chuburna Mexico Fishing Report
Howdy folks! Well both May and June since the tarpon have moved into our area, the fishing has been both super exciting and frustrating as well..Frustrating because in the past two months, we have had 21 tarpon hook ups but only 6 photographs. As you know they are very hard to keep hooked and with all that thrashing around it is no wonder why! The coolest thing tho is we get to target the tarpon all the way thru January.

Not only the tarpon that have been exciting, but the speckled sea trout ...

Each outing with guests are producing 15 to 60 fish being caught...and as always we promote catch and release and only keeping a few for lunch!

As each year at this time we begin to get really excited for the return of the Tarpon....weekly we have been checking...

I am sorry for not posting more here in our blog but seriously I am fishing so much, not a lot of time after relaxation to get to it....but here is is....As always the fishing here is has been awesome as folks can read from our TripAdvisor reviews. The speckled sea trout here are always on and we are always catching 30 to 60 fish per outing and a number of 2 and 3 plus pounders. On the Okuma light action rod and reels the fight is a blast.

As my notes stated over the past 3 years the Tarpon be...

A Very Merry Christmas to all our fishing fans out there!!!!! Cheers to you all indeed!

Today is Christmas Eve and I feel so blessed that yesterday I received a last minute booking with a couple from Atlanta Georgia. Eric and Ashley got a true taste of top water Ria fishing here in the Yucatan of Mexico. A day full of action with Ashley catching the first fish while we were targeting the tarpon.

The wind today I have to say was blowing hard, but in the Ria we get no more than a foot swell if ...

Winter Time Fishing in the Ria, Progeso Mexico

Posted by Travel Merida on Sunday, January 4, 2015, In : Snook Fishing
First let me say this, i am so pleased to see such clear water back in the Ria. I have fished these waters now for 4 years, and last year I was so shocked to see from December thru March, the water was dirty and cloudy and the fishing sucked! I was turning down tours because I just did not want to takes folks money when I knew the bite was dead. This was due to an abnormal increase in rain fall the late summer before that, as all our water runs underground, it pops up via springs in the mangr...
