Howdy folks, well if you have never been fishing here in the Yucatan of Mexico, you just do not know what you are missing!! The tarpon, snook, speckled sea trout and barracuda are our target fish and we have been catching them all thru the winter and spring months. I must admit, to say ´winter´ here is just funny.....80 to 90 degrees is just not winter time....but here in Progreso Mexico this what we have to deal with....this is why so many folks travel and ´winter´ here in the Yucatan these months....The fishing here in the winter....freekin awesome folks....we are blessed to be able to catch tarpon year round here, snook have began moving in and we have over the last two days from this post caught a 3.5 and 4 pound snook....

Progreso Fishing Report - July - August

Howdy folks, well this summer here in Progreso has been really awesome...We have had since May 1st 33 tarpon hook ups and a dozen photos with the fish. The specks are always on and some big fish have been caught which is typical for the summer months in our shallow back water lagoon.



Tarpon are both in the marina area and back in the lagoon...we are catching the 20 to 50 pound range and on light action tackle, the fight is a blast.

Can I just say in the beginning here....I so love my job!!!...At YucatanSnook.com we have already exceeded last years tours in our first two months...Last year in the first 58 days we hosted 43 tours, 2018 we have now hit 67 fishing tours. We feel so blessed that our guests are having such a great time while on our watch. The fishing in these first two months has been awesome....Granted we still a few of those crappy fishing days and that as we all know is just part of this sport. We always w...

What a blast the fishing here in the Progreso Mexico area has been over the past months..The Tarpon....wow, we have hooked onto some huge tarpon and have lost a number of them as well. A very tough fish to catch and let me tell you when you do, you just can not stop shaking for an hour. It is a thrill indeed and I feel so blessed to have put a large number of our guest on those big fish and for many their very first in their lives!!!

Howdy everyone....Where do I start...ok, August here in the Yucatan of Mexico is always HOT. Progreso is our location as you know and even tho is it always hot and humid here, the weather is unbeatable....365 days of awesome backwater fishing...August has been an unusual month tho....First, earlier this month I personally, while with guest from the Carnival Cruise Ship porting here, caught the record Ria fish for the area at 5.2 pounds... Well folks, all I can say is wow wow wow!!! The fishing the past few months has been awesome here in Progreso, Chelem and Chuburna Mexico´s Ria system....The shallow water lagoon we fish is indeed ON......The speckled sea trout have been amazing and we are catching a lot of fish, like 30 plus per trip and now, as of two weeks ago, the Tarpon have moved in......



Yesterday we had a guest from El Salvador, and he was able to check off his bucket list, a tarpon......even tho we did not catch a hu...

Chelem, Chuburna Ria Fishing at it's BEST - June Fishing Report

May and June so far here in our beautiful space of Progreso, Chelem and Chuburna for fishing has been awesome......The Ria or lagoon that sits behind Chelem and Chuburna is a paradise not a lot of people know about.....The fishing, well is just simply awesome......Although we are not here in the Ria a 'trophy' fishing grounds, the speckled sea trout, ranging from dinks to 5 pounds prove to always be exciting to catch on the top water lures that we catch them on....and always on!
